Living in the Middle East
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009I lived in Doha, Qatar for nine months last year. It was a great experience. I was Project Manager for a teacher training project. Our teachers trained local Math and Science teachers in best practices – content and pedagogy. Â
My family joined me for six of the nine months. Our daughters (preteens) had a great experience interacting with a multi-national population. There were many western families in Doha and plenty of opportunities to connect through church or social events.
I would recommend teaching abroad to anyone who would like to experience a different way of life. You need to be flexible and willing to step outside your comfort zone. But once you do, you’ll thank yourself for doing so.
